Concept

The “Creative Mobilities” initiative, conceived in 2016 by Valeria Marcolin (Delegate General) and Hervé Fournier, was launched in 2017, featuring its inaugural International Forum in collaboration with the Syndicat Mixte des Transports en commun of the Grenoble Metropolitan Area, France

This groundbreaking initiative seeks to establish both local and global bridges, emphasizing the intertwined nature of mobility, culture, and the strategic planning of urban and territorial spaces, all aimed at sustainable development. By adopting innovative, multidisciplinary approaches, it encourages stakeholders to think beyond conventional boundaries. More than just integrating arts into public and private transportation, “Creative Mobilities” leverages existing partnerships across sectors, paving the way for research, innovation, societal transformation, inclusivity, heightened regional appeal, and the birth of novel economic opportunities.

At their core, mobility and culture are the channels connecting people, goods, diverse knowledge bases, and territories.

Both spheres grapple with shared challenges: navigating the vast tapestry of human diversity, cultivating new talents and expertise, promoting inclusivity and civic engagement, combating climate change, endorsing sustainable practices and green energy solutions, ensuring safety and resilience in public spaces, championing gender equality, smartly navigating the digital transformation, bridging the gap between urban and rural experiences, and much more.

Through an extensive analysis of over 90 global case studies, the “Creative Mobilities” initiative underscores how harmonizing arts, culture, and mobility can greatly enhance urban spaces, bolster local innovation and connections, and foster a profound sense of community and belonging.
