He’s since 2007 the Secretary General of UCLG Africa. He was the Chairman of the Interim Cities Alliance Management Board until April 2016. He is also Co-Chair of the World Cities Scientific Development Alliance (WCSDA), and Secretary Deputy General of the Sino-African Forum of Local Authorities. Mr. Elong Mbassi is the man behind the Africites Summits, the largest event of cities, regions and local communities in Africa, which he oversees since the first edition in 1998. Mr. Elong Mbassi has nearly 40 years of experience in urban development and land use planning, urban services, local economic development, local government governance, housing, and slum restructuring.

 

 

Catherine Cullen
Deputy Mayor for Culture for the City of Lille (France)

Catherine Cullen was Deputy Mayor for Culture for the City of Lille, France, from 2001 to 2014. In 2008, she also became councillor in charge of Culture for the Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL). For over ten years she was a board member of the Culture Committee of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), its President for three years (2012-2015), and she is presently its Special Advisor on Culture in Sustainable Cities. She is also an independent international consultant in culture and sustainable development, a subject she teaches at the Political Science Institute of Lille.
